Science teaches an understanding of natural phenomena. At Lawnside, we aim to stimulate each child’s curiosity in finding out why things happen in the way that they do. Throughout lessons, children are taught methods of enquiry and investigation to stimulate creative thought. Children are encouraged to ask scientific questions and are taught to begin to appreciate the way science will affect their future on a personal, national and global level.
We use a variety of teaching and learning styles in science lessons. Sometimes we teach whole class, while at other times we engage the children in an enquiry-based research activity.
Here at Lawnside we are fortunate enough to have extensive grounds; this enables practical experiments and investigation to take place, within the children’s own environment.
